Pop group BGYO made a striking appearance at LA Fashion Week 2024, closing out a runway show as both performers and models for Filipino designer Kenneth Barlis.

The five-member group—Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate—wore custom black and white looks designed by Barlis, walking the runway with the same composure they bring to the stage. Their live performance of the single “Trash” served as the closing act of Barlis’ show, blending choreography with the rhythm of a traditional fashion presentation.

The showcase coincided with Filipino American History Month, adding weight to BGYO’s visit to the United States. Earlier that week, the group became the first international act to headline a concert at TikTok’s Creator Studio in Los Angeles, as part of the platform’s Asian Pacific Islander Resource Group celebration for the month. Reflecting on the string of international shows, member Mikki said, “We came back to be here at TikTok Creator Studio and performed here. More shows are coming up for BGYO. We feel blessed and always motivated to do our best in everything.”

Following LA Fashion Week, the group’s momentum continued when they received the “Song by a New International Artist” award for “Patintero” at the 2024 Brazil BreakTudo Awards, marking a breakthrough for P-Pop artists reaching audiences beyond Asia and North America.

The collaboration with Kenneth Barlis showed how the group continues to expand beyond music, bringing their stage presence to new creative spaces on an international stage.
