BLACKPINK’s Rosé and Bruno Mars’ collaboration “APT.” has become the fastest song by a K-pop act to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify, hitting the milestone just 100 days after its October 18, 2024 release. The achievement broke a record previously held by BTS’s Jungkook, and made “APT.” the second-fastest song overall to reach the mark, trailing only Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die With A Smile.”
The song reached its first major milestone even faster, crossing 500 million Spotify streams roughly six weeks after release—Rosé’s first solo collaboration to do so. On the charts, “APT.” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and went on to spend 34 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the longest-running K-pop song in the chart’s history at the time.
“APT.” also broke records on YouTube, becoming the fastest K-pop music video to reach both 500 million and 600 million views, and eventually the fastest to cross 2 billion views, hitting that mark in 335 days. In recognition of its cultural reach, the song won Song of the Year at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
The single arrived alongside Rosé’s debut solo album, “rosie,” released December 6, 2024, which made her the first K-pop female soloist to break into the Top 3 of the Billboard 200. Between the album and “APT.,” Rosé has now amassed eight Guinness World Records, the most held by any solo Korean artist, surpassing BTS’s Jungkook.
The success of “APT.” underscores how K-pop artists continue to expand their reach through global collaborations, blending genres and fan bases to break records once thought exclusive to Western pop acts.
