The Pro Lineup (Premium Models)
The Pixel 9 Pro and 6.8-inch Pixel 9 Pro XL both featured 16GB of RAM. The Pro XL shipped alongside the standard model on August 22, while the Pixel 9 Pro followed on September 4. Both Pro models introduced “Add Me” for group photos and an upgraded Magic Editor for background adjustments.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold (Foldable)
Google’s foldable, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, also ran 16GB of RAM and shipped September 4, 2024, starting at $1,799.
Wearables Focused on Safety
Alongside the phones, Google launched the Pixel Watch 3, which introduced Loss of Pulse Detection using on-device algorithms. If the sensor detects a sudden loss of pulse and the wearer remains unresponsive, the watch automatically alerts emergency services and shares location data. The feature rolled out first in the UK and Europe before expanding to the US and Canada following regulatory clearance.
Audio: Pixel Buds Pro 2
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 launched alongside the phones, built around Google’s Tensor A1 audio chip for real-time noise cancellation and voice clarity during calls.
