President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. led the National Heroes’ Day ceremony on August 25, 2024, at Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City. The solemn event gathered military officials, veterans, students, and everyday citizens to honor both historical heroes and modern Filipinos living the spirit of service every day.

Marcos laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, paying tribute to generations who fought for Philippine freedom. In his address, he expanded the definition of heroism beyond battlefields, recognizing farmers, fisherfolk, teachers, doctors, police, soldiers, scientists, civil servants, and OFWs as today’s true patriots whose daily sacrifices strengthen the nation.

The President spoke firmly against corruption and abuse of power, calling them enemies that rob Filipinos of their future. He committed to transparency and accountability in governance, emphasizing that honest leadership honors the heroes’ legacy and builds the foundation for Bagong Pilipinas.
Especially touching were Marcos’ words for OFWs and teachers. “They don’t just send money home—they carry Filipino dignity across the world,” he said, bringing tears to many families in the crowd. Teachers felt deeply honored too: “You teach more than textbooks—you shape the nation’s soul.” In that moment at Libingan ng mga Bayani, history’s heroism met today’s living legacy.

Marcos urged young Filipinos to awaken their inner hero through discernment, compassion, and civic action. The ceremony featured military honors and flag ceremonies, creating moments of unity as Filipinos from all walks of life gathered in shared pride.
This Heroes’ Day reminded everyone that true heroism lives in everyday choices—hard work, integrity, kindness. From rural fields to urban classrooms to distant countries, every Filipino choosing service over self-interest carries that heroic flame forward.
