The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) has partnered with TikTok to combat online scams and cybercrime. As more Filipinos rely on social media for shopping, communication, and entertainment, concerns over digital safety continue to grow.
To improve response time, the partnership introduces a more direct coordination process between TikTok and law enforcement. A designated liaison officer now connects TikTok’s legal team with PNP investigators, removing the need for lengthy formal requests. This allows faster evidence collection and quicker action against suspicious accounts involved in online scams.

TikTok is also supporting the PNP-ACG through cybersecurity training and technical guidance. The sessions focus on platform policies, evidence handling, and legal procedures, helping investigators respond more effectively to scam-related and cybercrime cases. The effort supports the agency’s broader anti-scam campaign for 2025, which encourages closer cooperation between government, e-commerce platforms, and technology companies.

One key area of concern is scam activity linked to TikTok Shop, which has become increasingly popular among local users. Reported cases include counterfeit or low-quality products, as well as orders that are not delivered after payment. Addressing these online scams is essential to maintaining trust in digital transactions.
The partnership also prioritizes the protection of vulnerable groups. The PNP-ACG’s Women and Children Cybercrime Protection Division is working with TikTok to detect and remove content related to the online sexual exploitation of children (OSEC). Strengthened monitoring helps ensure that harmful content is identified and taken down more quickly.

Recent figures highlight the scale of the issue. By the end of 2024, about 7.2% of households had experienced cybercrime. With more than 49 million TikTok users nationwide, cooperation between public authorities and digital platforms plays a critical role in improving online safety.
Users are encouraged to report suspicious activity through official channels. TikTok provides an in-app “Fraud and Scams” reporting feature, while the PNP-ACG operates a 24/7 hotline (16677) and accepts reports via its e-Sumbong portal. Timely reporting helps authorities respond faster and limit further harm from online scams.

As digital activity continues to expand, initiatives like this reflect a broader push to create a safer online environment. Stronger coordination, clearer reporting systems, and increased public awareness are expected to play a key role in reducing online scams and cybercrime.
