MANILA — San Miguel Beer avenged their previous loss against NLEX with an exciting 119-114 victory in the 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup at Ninoy Aquino Stadium. This win improved San Miguel’s record to 4-2 in Group B, while NLEX fell to 3-4 after their third straight defeat.

NLEX led 92-86 after three quarters and seemed poised for an upset. However, San Miguel dominated the final period, outscoring NLEX 33-22 to clinch the win. Coach Jorge Gallent praised the team’s improved one-on-one defense, which limited NLEX’s offense in the second half.
“We focused on individual defense to avoid overhelping, and the players improved significantly after halftime,” Gallent said.
Cjay Perez led San Miguel with 24 points, while Marcio Lassiter, named Player of the Game, scored 17 points including four three-pointers. Lassiter surpassed Allan Caidic to become second on the PBA all-time three-point shooting list.
“It’s an honor to be among such elite company, but the win was our main goal tonight,” Lassiter shared.
June Mar Fajardo added 17 points and nine rebounds, Sheldon Mac contributed 16 points, and Don Trollano hit critical shots late in the game to keep San Miguel ahead despite NLEX closing the gap to four points in the final minutes.
For NLEX, Robert Bolick stood out with 24 points and 15 assists, and Myke Henry scored 17 points, but their efforts fell short against San Miguel’s strong finish.
